Linear Pendants: The Ideal Choice for Kitchen Islands and Dining Spaces

Linear pendants are a perfect lighting solution for kitchen islands, bars, and long or oval dining tables. They not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your space but also create ambience and provide functional illumination.

Size

As a general guideline, your linear pendant should measure approximately two-thirds to three-quarters the length of your island or table. We recommend leaving an inset of 200–400 mm on each side.

For example, if your kitchen island is 2000 mm long, an ideal pendant length would be between 1200 mm and 1600 mm.

Height

Pendant lights above a kitchen island should typically hang 600–800 mm above the surface. The exact height depends on your personal preference—whether you want the pendant slightly above eye level or hanging higher for a more open feel.

Light Colour

The colour temperature of your pendant affects both ambience and visibility:

• 2700K (Warm White): Creates a soft, inviting atmosphere.

• 3000K (Bright White): A balanced, neutral light—ideal for general use.

• 4000K (Cool White): Crisp and energising—great for task lighting.

For food prep areas where the pendant is the main light source, we recommend 3000K or 4000K.

For dining tables, opt for 2700K or 3000K to create a warm, comfortable setting.

Be sure to match the pendant’s light colour with other lighting in the space to maintain visual harmony. It’s best to have similar colour temperatures active at the same time.
